Program 50/50 creates wins for companies

Program 50/50 outline

Project F’s Program 50/50 draws on 25+ years of industry experience and deep expertise in understanding and resolving why women leave technology.  Using this expertise as a foundation, we work with you to create a tailored roadmap to help you invest and cultivate your female talent.

While there are clear themes as to why women leave promising careers in technology - taking skills and potential with them - we know each organisation also has its own needs. When your organisation signs up to Program 50/50 you embark on a journey with us to identify and surface the underlying and unaddressed systemic and environmental needs that are known to derail women in careers in technology.

There are three key stages to Program 50/50:

  1. Pledge: as soon as you have signed up to Program 50/50 you are awarded the “PLEDGE 50/50” certification, demonstrating your commitment to closing the gender gap in your technology teams. From here we work with you to collect all the data we require to do the analysis and build your roadmap.

  2. Activate: Once your roadmap is complete and we have delivered it to you and agreed the milestones you’ll work on, you’ll be awarded the second certification level, “ACTIVATE 50/50”.

  3. Achieve: You’ll receive the third and ultimate level of certification, “ACHIEVE 50/50”, when your milestones have been reached.

Throughout the stages of the program, we’re on hand for support and guidance when your teams need it. We have a strong partner network to realise your roadmap and while all this is going on, we’ll help support your efforts by providing you with a pipeline of female tech talent where you need it.

PROGRESS

As you progress through the certification levels you will be seeing improvements made at a systemic level in your business, removing the hidden barriers to achieving gender diversity. As women become more able to develop their careers within your organisation, more will be attracted to join you as they become aware of the work you are doing and they can see other women moving upwards.

Take the steps to REAL change

Most companies are simply paying lip service to diversity and inclusion. By certifying with Program 50/50 you are doing something different that will have a tangible impact on the experience of women working in technology. The importance of such a progressive program and the positive impact across your business cannot be underestimated.

Partners

Project F partners with the following carefully chosen organisations that offer relevant products and services our clients can make use of during their journey on Program 50/50.

Entry requirements

To participate in Program 50/50 companies need to have an executive level program sponsor, usually a CEO or Founder. This ensures accountability for deliverables and sustainability of outcomes, just as with any other major change program in an organisation.

Research has shown that the biggest obstacles to success of such programs is a lack of effective change sponsorship from senior leaders.

An organisation looks to its leaders to be visible sponsors of change and to demonstrate why change is necessary. Senior leaders provide the authority and credibility necessary for successful change.

FAQs

+ How is Program 50/50 different from other offerings that endorse companies as great places to work for women?

Firstly, Program 50/50 is not an employer branding tool. Companies on the program cannot give lip service to the issue by ticking boxes. Program 50/50 surfaces systemic barriers and drives accountability while guiding companies to remove them. The program focuses 100% on technology teams. We only certify companies for a demonstrated commitment to closing the gender gap, this confirms action, accountability and measurable outcomes, not smoke screens.

+ Who can apply to Program 50/50?

Any organisation with a genuine drive to close the gender gap in their technology teams and leadership. Organisations who recognise there's no shortcut and are prepared to commit to the long term view, the commitment and the action required. Companies whose leadership see balanced teams as a business imperative, who value accountability and who call “BS” on lip-service.

+ When will we see results once we’ve signed up?

In some areas straight away, for example we immediately pipeline talent to support your growth. When an organisation pledges commitment to this program, it sends an incredibly powerful message to the female technology community as most women working in tech recognise they can’t trust other claims, no matter how polished the employer branding and how many “female friendly” policies are cited. Existing employees are boosted too as they can see that their employers are genuinely tackling the causes where others aren’t. The program itself can take time just like any other change program. But measures begin from day one and there will doubtless be a few quick wins to be had.

+ What does it cost to sign up to Program 50/50?

The cost is made up of 2 main components; a one off joining fee (scroll down to Investment section below) and a monthly subscription from month 2. In addition, clients are charged a fee each time they hire from our women-in-tech talent pipeline, which is entirely optional.
