Crystal Boysen, head of people at Australian online design platform Canva Inc., discusses how the company is increasing gender diversity and equality.

Crystal cited three key initiatives underpinning their efforts on gender diversity;

  1. continuing superannuation payments throughout parental leave, which currently only around 50% of employers do in Australia,

  2. offering a generous childcare subsidy for parents during school holidays and

  3. working Project F to help them create gender balance in their technology teams.

She went on to point out that they are focusing on “women’s representation in the tech’ space in particular”, pointing efforts towards learning and development and the growth and development of their leaders.

Crystal said they are partnering with Project F to “really get under the hood” at Canva and look at what they should be doing differently.

The technology startup said in October it has raised $85 million, led by Mary Meeker’s venture capital firm, bolstering its valuation to $3.2 billion. Boysen speaks with Haidi Stroud-Watts and Shery Ahn on "Bloomberg Markets." (Source: Bloomberg)
