Immutable and Project F
Immutable has signed up to participate in Project F’s Program 50/50 from January 2021. The program will require them to work with us to identify and remove the systemic barriers for women in tech teams and leadership so that they can sustainably build gender-balanced teams. This is an investment in their future sustainability and one we are delighted they are making, as such a young business today.
The work on Program 50/50 is not easy and requires a consistent focus on structural change, removing bias from processes and systems and shifting the narrative on diversity and inclusion. Co-founder James Ferguson is the Executive Sponsor of the program at Immutable. Samantha Weinreich, Head of People & Culture is leading the change and facilitating the program across the company. The unique challenge of achieving gender balance within the subculture of technology has been made a strategic imperative so that Immutable can challenge the status quo in the sector and grow a healthily balanced business.

Gamers spent more than $100 billion on in-game items last year. However, $0 of that went to other players - it mostly went directly to huge free-to-play game studios. At Immutable, we're all about ownership: using blockchain technology to provide gamers with real and "immutable" ownership, rather than licensing agreements, over the items they've worked so hard to acquire.
Powering the world's most popular blockchain games, Immutable builds marketplaces and infrastructure so that game developers can provide better value to their users and introduce free-market economies inside their games. A critical part of that ecosystem is our upcoming launch of Immutable X, our cross-game item marketplace and exchange functionality.
It will offer fast, reliable trades with minimal transaction fees and will support both first- and third-party assets that function within the Immutable ecosystem. Immutable X is non-custodial, meaning users will have complete control over their assets at all times and won't have to place their trust in any central entity to hold and manage their assets for them.
A bit about the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to build an amazing and technically challenging consumer-facing product in a high-growth startup environment.
Immutable X makes it easy for players to trade blockchain-backed game assets. You’ll be working with their Immutable X go-to-market team, which is an elite team focused on taking Immutable X to as many players and games as possible. You’ll help them build innovative growth features and incentive schemes to maximize this growth. You’ll have a lot of flexibility in terms of tools, technology and architecture: most of your goals will be product-driven rather than tech-driven.
You will be an active engineer on that team, personally working on both frontend and backend features, but you will also be heavily involved in product design and development. You don’t need any blockchain development experience. You’ll help the team estimate, prioritise and scope features, and contribute to product discussions at all stages of development.
If you’re looking to work on a fun and iterative product that will test and improve your skills, in a strong team, with a great deal of independence, this role is for you.
Technology stack
They don’t need you to have blockchain knowledge or game development! However, they do need to you be able to work with their pre-existing stack:
Frontend: Angular 2+ or React, with strong CSS/SASS skills
Backend: either Golang or Node.js (with Typescript)

Participate in team planning and product design sessions
Help estimate and prioritise proposed features
Build excellently engineered features quickly and efficiently
Iterate features quickly in response to customer feedback
Create tools which allow others on the team to scale up
